Help
Timeline
"Everyone" shows check-ins with photos or comments, while "All" shows every check-in.
If you check in multiple times in a short period, some may not appear in "Everyone" or "All." This is to prevent one person's consecutive posts from filling up the timeline. They will still appear in other timelines. Waiting a while will restore normal display.
Reactions
Tap ♡ on a check-in to send a ♡. Tap it again to remove it.
Sakenowa+ members can long-press ♡ to also choose "Want to drink" or "Informative." Choosing a different one switches directly, and choosing the same one again removes it.
When you send a reaction, it appears in the recipient's notifications, showing who sent it and which one. It's delivered even if they're not a Sakenowa+ member.
Sakenowa Groups
Groups let you share a timeline with friends. Groups are public and anyone can join. When you select a group at check-in, it also appears on that group's timeline.
When you join a group with the Join button, it appears under "Joined Groups" in the list. You can leave anytime from the Joined button.
Creating groups is a Sakenowa+ perk. You can create up to 3, right from the app.
Owners can change the group name, description, and cover image anytime. Deleting a group never deletes check-ins (only their link to the group is removed).
If you cancel Sakenowa+, your groups are suspended. No one can newly join a suspended group, but everything comes back when you resubscribe.
Groups created through the earlier email application process will remain as they are.
Group Topics
Group Topics is a feature for sharing and discussing a wide range of subjects related to sake and Sakenowa—not just records of sake you have tried. You can ask about a sake you are curious about, share information about breweries or events, discuss how to use Sakenowa, and more.
Topics are public on the group timeline, and you can start one without joining the group. Tap "Start a topic" on the group screen to post, then discuss it through comments and reactions.
Managing Topics (Group Owners)
Group owners can manage topics and comments to keep discussions aligned with their group's theme. Management tools are available from the "…" menu on topics and comments.
Separately from management by Group owners, the Sakenowa team also responds to posts that violate our Terms of Use or Guidelines.
- Pinning
- Pin an important topic to the top of the group timeline. You can unpin it from the same menu.
- Deleting posts
- Delete any topic or comment, regardless of who posted it. Deleting a topic also deletes all of its comments.
- Restricting participation
- Remove a poster from the group and prevent them from rejoining or posting topics and comments. Their existing topics and comments remain.
- Removing a restriction
- Open the "…" menu at the top right of the group screen and select "Manage Restrictions." Removing a restriction does not automatically rejoin the user to the group.
Group Guidelines
Groups can be used for conversations centered on sake and for connecting with people through Sakenowa. You're free to choose your group's name and description, but the following kinds of groups may be suspended at our discretion:
・Impersonating Sakenowa or an official brewery/brand
・Attacking a specific person, venue, or brand
・Against public order and morals
・Primarily about topics unrelated to either sake or Sakenowa
If you find a problematic group, please report it from the "…" menu on the group screen.
Check-in Calendar
When you skip a day after several consecutive check-ins, a ♡ appears on that day. We love it when you check in often, but we also cheer for your rest days.
Achievements
Achievements unlock automatically based on your activity on Sakenowa. You can check the ones you've earned from your profile.
The achievements screen shows the requirements and your progress for each one. Some are free, and some are Sakenowa+ exclusive.
Some achievements let you look back at the check-in that triggered them.
Hall of Fame
You can mark a brand as a Hall of Famer from the brand detail screen. You can have up to 3.
Check-in Visibility
Sakenowa values sharing your sake experiences with everyone, so there is no private mode. The timeline moves quickly, so feel free to post without worrying.
Registering Brands
If you search for a brand on the check-in screen and can't find it, you can register it via "Register a new brand" and then check in.
Flavor Profile
Your check-in comments are analyzed for flavor expressions and your sake preferences are automatically classified into 10 types. No questionnaires needed — just write your thoughts and your profile grows. Results also feed into your personalized recommendations.
